Camps, cottages, condos and rentals are part of the scenery and culture here, where families have returned for generations to swim, ski, fish, paddle, snowmobile, hike, and relax.
Glorious lakes and ponds - a source of life and legend. Most Northeast Kingdom lakes were created when glacial ice carved out a deep basin in a pre-existing valley. When the last glaciers melted 12,000 years ago, deep, clear, lakes were left behind. Today almost all of these lakes feature cabins, cottages and rentals. And while these lakes are a treasure the fact remains that the Kingdom also boasts a rich tapestry of rolling fields, thick forests and rugged mountains that blend smoothly into classic village silhouettes shaped by soaring church steeples, broad general storefronts, common greens and colonial farm houses. In these areas rentals and condo options are readily available to connect you with the best snowmobile, skiing, hiking or biking trails or with local shops, attractions and restaurants.
