We're planning a big day of winter related activities for Sunday, October 7:

Singletrack Shootdown Biathlon Race
Test your limits on the Craftsbury Outdoor Center’s singletrack with a fall biathlon race! Racers can choose between a 6km running race and a 10km mountain bike race, each with four shooting stages. All levels of ability are welcome. The morning starts with an hour long shooting and safety clinic for beginners, including tips for zeroing a rifle, followed by the beginner’s race. We’ll supply the range, ammo, safety instruction, rifles and other equipment. An expert’s race will follow for racers with biathlon experience and their own rifle. As is the case with summer biathlon, all racers will rack their rifles when they leave the range - i.e. no running or biking with a gun on your back.

Registration for the biathlon events are day-of only. The event is free for Craftsbury Outdoor Center houseguests, only $5 for Craftsbury Outdoor Center or Ethan Allen Biathlon Center Members, and $10 for all others. Beginner participants must be at least 14 years of age. Please park at COC and follow the signs on the ski trails to the biathlon range.

High School Nordic Ski Clinic
Join US Biathlon Team athlete Susan Dunklee, US Ski Team athlete Ida Sargent, and other members of the Craftsbury Green Racing Project for an afternoon of nordic ski training. Ski-walk and bound with elite skiers on the Craftsbury Outdoor Center trails, try grass skiing, and learn new strength and agility exercises. The clinic will conclude with a slideshow and presentation on World Cup biathlon and skiing.

The event is FREE to all high school aged participants, but we do ask that you RSVP so we can be certain we have adequate staffing (don't worry if you haven't RSVP'd come event day - just be sure to come!). Participants should bring bounding poles, clothing for training outside - no matter the weather, as well as some skis for use on the grass if you're going to give that a try.
