






GEOTOURISM AWARENESS INITIATIVE
To further amplify the awareness of the Geotourism concept and experience throughout the various stages of the tourism visitor cycle additional marketing tools highlighting the Geotourism travel experience will be created and distributed throughout the Northeast Kingdom, to travel trade representatives, travel writers, and also to travelers both interested in, and occupying the region. The Geotourism travel experience and the prepackaged Geotourism travel experiences are being promoted by NEKTTA as follows:

Geotourism Training Initiative
A Geotourism Training Initiative which includes written guides and live training sessions for local businesses, communities and others in the hospitality related industries. The goal of Geotourism Training is to help residents and business leaders understand geotourism and how to incorporate its values into their daily lives and business practices. The guides also give specific direction as to how communities, businesses, and those in the hospitality industries can create and market geotourism experiences for the traveler.

Online Advertising Campaign
NEKTTA has designed and launched advertising which showcases the Geotourism designation on key travel sites including VermontVacation.com and MontrealFamilies.com to enhance awareness of, and lure visitors to, the Northeast Kingdom.
Print Advertising Campaign
NEKTTA has designed and showcases advertising in Vermont Chamber's Summer and Winter Vacation Guides, Montreal Families, Boston Globe, VAST and the Burlington Free Press Summer and Fall Fun Guides which highlights the Geotourism designation to enhance awareness of, and lure visitors to, the Northeast Kingdom.
Publicity Campaign
NEKTTA distributes to identified viable sources press releases showcasing the Geotourism designation resulting in articles on the Northeast Kingdom travel experience being showcased in major publications such as the Boston Globe.
Travel Trade and Fam Tours
NEKTTA will organize and host an annual FAM trip for area business representatives, travel writers and travel trade representatives to ensure ongoing participation in the project.
Travel Trade Booth
NEKTTA now has a trade show booth which highlights Geotourism in the Northeast Kingdom. The booth will be utilized by NEKTTA and other regional businesses while attending travel trade shows to amplify the awareness of Geotourism throughout New England.
Travel Trade Show Participation
NEKTTA will continue to identify and attend a series of travel trade shows as a representative of the region to further the awareness of the Geotourism travel experience. Recently attended shows include the Boston Globe Travel Show in February 2009, which attracted more than 200 travel industry exhibitors and over 13,000 attendees and the New York Times Travel Show in January 2009 which is currently the largest consumer and travel trade show in the U.S. with 30,000 attendees (8,000 trade professionals) having visited the Expo Floor.
