Vermont's Northeast Kingdom is a region famous for its home-baked pies, sweets and breads. Dairy products, wild game, herbs and garden vegetables also find their way into local kitchens.
Enjoy the best of local foods, prepared simply and thoughtfully.
Wines carefully chosen from the world's best wine producing regions. A converted mill overlooking the Passumpsic River. A relaxed place for sharing good food, good conversation and good times. These are the elements that make a great restaurant. Elements. Located at 98 Mill Street in downtown St. Johnsbury.
Many inns prepare excellent food in their restaurants. Juniper's restaurant located at the Wildflower Inn is a family- oriented favorite.
You'll find a few down home favorites where the best of the grill and layed back atmosphere come together. The Pub Outback in East Burke is the solution to a day of mountain biking or snowmobiling in the NEK.Located in a refurbished barn. The Black Bear in St. Johnsbury is a favorite for food lovers, featuring a salad bar.
Serving creative cuisine is River Garden Cafe -- a quaint hideaway in East Burke village. The Tamarack Grill located in the Burke Mountain Ski Area Base lodge offers fine food and beverage with a great view.
Trout River Beer is only micro-beer brewed in the Kingdom. Try their line of all-natural, unfiltered beers on tap and in bottles. Cheers, Mates!
Most towns have a local diner, a sure bet for hot coffee and a hearty breakfast served all day. Church suppers are a great value, while providing a pleasant way to meet locals. Priced right between $5.00 and $12.50 per person, it's all you can eat! Check local papers for ads.

Lago Trattoria translates literally from the Italian as 'lake restaurant,' an apt description, as Lago Trattoria is located in Newport, on the shores of international Lake Memphremagog. At first bite, the simple yet tasteful Mediterranean and Italian fare lets diners realize they have transcended the status quo. Opposite the well-stocked bar is an open kitchen in the center of the restaurant--watching Frank at work is all part of the experience.
Frank is committed to using as much Vermont-produced organic food as possible. His dishes (many derive from old family recipes) are true Mediterranean and Italian creations--lighter, fresh-tasting fare offering more flavor variety than the traditional, heavy pasta-and-sauce dishes. The service is second to none and found every night of the week.
