Northeast Kingdom Vermont Vacation Packages

Northeast Kingdom Dining and RestaurantsInformation for International Visitors to the Northeast Kingdom

Vermont's Northeast Kingdom is a region famous for its home-baked pies, sweets and breads. Dairy products, wild game, herbs and garden vegetables also find their way into local kitchens.

Enjoy the best of local foods, prepared simply and thoughtfully.
Wines carefully chosen from the world's best wine producing regions. A converted mill overlooking the Passumpsic River. A relaxed place for sharing good food, good conversation and good times. These are the elements that make a great restaurant such as Elements located in downtown St. Johnsbury.

Many inns prepare excellent food in their restaurants. Juniper's restaurant located at the Wildflower Inn is a family-oriented favorite.

You'll find a few down home favorites where the best of the grill and laid back atmosphere come together. The Pub Outback in East Burke is the solution to a day of mountain biking or snowmobiling in the NEK.

Serving creative cuisine is River Garden Cafe -- a quaint hideaway in East Burke village. The Tamarack Grill located in the Burke Mountain Ski Area Base lodge offers fine food and beverages with a breathtaking view.

Trout River Beer is the only micro-beer brewed in the Kingdom. Try their line of all-natural, unfiltered beers on tap and in bottles. Cheers, Mates!

For a romantic evening out and a fine dining experience, visit the Rabbit Hill Inn in Waterford, VT for award-winning, inspired and imaginative candlelit cuisine.

Head north to Newport, VT for a great meal at the Eastside along the shores of Lake Memphremagog. In the mood for Italian? Head to Main Street and Lago Trattoria where you'll enjoy true Mediterranean and Italian creations.

Most towns have a local diner, a sure bet for hot coffee and a hearty breakfast served all day. Church suppers are a great value, while providing a pleasant way to meet locals. Priced right between $5.00 and $12.50 per person, it's all you can eat! Check local papers for ads.

The River Garden is fun and upbeat: The food is fantastic, the service is friendly, attentive and professional, and the ambiance is irresistible. The owners are always there, and it seems like they know most diners on a first name basis - sometimes it seems like all of the guests know each other as well. If you like excellent food in great surroundings with music like Dave Brubeck or Ella in the background, then The River Garden Café is for you.

The café's ambiance is one of casual elegance, the quintessential Vermont experience, where diners may be right off the bike or ski trail or on their way to the theater. Our backyard garden paths lead to a footbridge over the river, a great place for a relaxing after-dinner stroll.

The cuisine is New Culinary Age, showcasing the freshest ingredients presented imaginatively in generous proportions by talented chef Travis Chapman. The eclectic menu and our chalkboard of daily specials are sure to entice any palate. We feature local produce in season, and grow our own herbs. We also offer "lighter side" and children's menus.

Set aside some time to sit and enjoy some of our fine brew along with our gourmet, hand-tossed, sourdough pizzas on Friday and Saturday evenings. They are truly outstanding! We use certified organic flour as well as many organic and local ingredients for our pizza toppings. Lago Trattoria translates literally from the Italian as 'lake restaurant,' an apt description, as Lago Trattoria is located in Newport, on the shores of international Lake Memphremagog. At first bite, the simple yet tasteful Mediterranean and Italian fare lets diners realize they have transcended the status quo. Opposite the well-stocked bar is an open kitchen in the center of the restaurant--watching Frank at work is all part of the experience.

Frank is committed to using as much Vermont-produced organic food as possible. His dishes (many derive from old family recipes) are true Mediterranean and Italian creations--lighter, fresh-tasting fare offering more flavor variety than the traditional, heavy pasta-and-sauce dishes. The service is second to none and found every night of the week.

If you have room for the bake shops, dessert of the month, you'll know why the East Side has been a Newport, VT favorite for years.

The Dancing Sail Banquet Room's elegant waterfront dining room and terrace open onto a garden courtyard to create the ideal setting for a story book Vermont wedding.
